At AMN, each piece is designed with intention - crafted from natural fibres, inspired by the Irish landscape, and made to be treasured for years to come. Thoughtful care helps ensure your knitwear lives a long, beautiful life. Below are our simple, nature-aligned tips to keep your garments looking and feeling their best.
Our knitwear is proudly made in partnership with IrelandsEye Knitwear, whose dedication to heritage craftsmanship and quality yarns ensures each piece is made to last.
Wool is naturally self-cleaning. Unless there's a spill or stain, your knit doesn't need frequent washing. Instead, hang it outdoors on a dry day or lay it flat indoors to air out. Fresh air will do more for your knit than any detergent ever could.
If a wash is needed:
Handwash only:Fill a basin with cool water and a mild, natural detergent or wool soap.
Soak gently:Let your knit soak for 5-10 minutes, then gently swish. Avoid rubbing or wringing.
Rinse with care:Use cool water to rinse, being careful not to twist or agitate the fibres.
Dry flat: Lay your knit on a towel, reshape gently, and dry flat away from direct heat or sunlight.
Avoid machine washing or tumble drying - even on gentle cycles - as these can cause felting or stretching.
Wool needs rest too. When not in use, fold your knit and store it in a breathable cotton bag or drawer. Avoid hangers, which can distort its shape over time.
To deter moths, consider adding a small sachet of dried lavender or cedar wood - a natural way to protect your piece without harsh chemicals.
With natural fibres, a little pilling is normal - especially in areas of friction like underarms or sides. Simply remove pills gently with a fabric comb or pill remover. It’s not a flaw; it’s a sign of authenticity.
We believe in reimagining waste and repurposing where we can. If your knitwear needs repair, reach out - we’re happy to advise on how to mend or recommend a trusted local craftsperson. A visible mend can be a mark of pride and story.
Care is part of the story. By treating your knit with love, you’re extending its life - and deepening your connection to it.
