Transparency

Transparency /tranˈspar(ə)nsi Noun: the quality of being done in an open way without secret.

At the core of our mission here at AMN is providing complete transparency in regard to our supply chain. As a brand we are constantly trying to improve our eco-credentials by ensuring that our supply-chain is as sustainable as possible. Our journey to complete sustainability will undoubtedly be a long and complicated one with many obstacles and challenges. However, we will not let this deter us from trying to reach our ultimate dream of reaching complete sustainability. Below is some information about the materials that are used in our garments and manufacturing process involved in the production of each of our items.

Wool

We work closely with a number of local woolen mills. Our main wool supplier, John Hanly & Co, only use natural fibers as raw materials, all of which are sourced from reputable suppliers who obtain their materials ethically and sustainably.

Cotton

Currently, the cotton that we use in our designs is a mixture of organic and non-organic cotton, but we hope to become 100% organic in the foreseeable future.  Organic cotton is cotton that is grown without the use of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. It uses a lot less water in the production stage than non-organic cotton, and as such has less of a negative impact on the environment.

Polyester

When possible, AMN works primarily with recycled polyester. Recycled polyester is polyester that has been manufactured without the use of new materials. Instead, pre-existing plastic is used to create the finished fabric. This plastic is broken down and melted, and then eventually turned into yarn.

Manufacturing

All AMN garments are manufactured here in Ireland, in regulated factories where everybody is paid fairly for their work. No sweatshops, no unsafe conditions, just Irish clothing being manufactured here in Ireland. This in turn provides jobs and boosts our local economy. We aim to keep our manufacturing process as environmentally-friendly as possible, with our main wool supplier, John Hanly & co, using a water turbine to generate their own electricity to ensure that all of the energy used in their production process is renewable.

Packaging

Here at AMN, all of our packaging is 100% recyclable. We take pride in the fact that we don’t use any plastic in our packaging, and we even go so far as to use recycled paper tape to avoid the unnecessary wasting of plastic.
