2018 is going to be one of the most challenging, exhausting and of course exciting years ahead. With having finished my degree ( hopefully haha) in Fashion Design at LSAD this year and having to make ‘That Decision’ of what I want to do with the rest of my life is quite daunting and very scary to say the least. I honestly haven’t the slightest clue of what that might be just yet.. yes of course I know I want to work in the fashion industry. But Where? What Aspect? I honestly dont know…But I think thats ok, not everyone walks out of college knowing exactly where they are going and what they want to do. Actually writing this post is nerve wrecking and exciting as this time next year I will be there and looking back at this blog post asking myself to probably just relax and go with it.
The main reason I came on here was to talk about ‘My Goals’ for My Blog throughout this year. With changing my name to Aoife Mc Namara , I want this year to be a lot more of what I really love talking about. Sustainability and living a greener lifestyle. It has been something I have aways loved chatting about but didn’t realize just how much until I was writing my thesis this year. With all the global changes that are happening in the world today I think it is definitely a very relevant topic. I will be discussing all things about the environment/ sustainable lifestyle/ sustainable design and educating myself in small differences that can help towards a greener living.
Personally I see it as an incredibly important issue in our generation today and being able to understand and acknowledge the changes that are happening around us is definitely something that I as a blogger would like to share. I want to use my blog as a platform on how ‘you’ can be more conscious for your actions even by the smallest of differences to your lifestyle.
I have been writing my blog for 2 and a bit years now and it is hard to find what you really LOVE to chat and share information about. Especially when there are so many bloggers out there today, sometimes I feel its easy to blend into the mist. I mean I always knew I loved vintage but ..as a blogger, Im not going to lie I always felt as if I wasn’t a ‘proper blogger’ because I didn’t have the latest trend or latest colour in my wardrobe which probably sounds stupid to most of ye but I knew that was never me and never would be me. Yes I love getting the latest look and color into my hands, but buying that many clothes in a month I just can’t comprehend. I’m not saying I’m not going to be sharing my favorite latest trends.. I will, but just in a more ethical and sustainable manner.
Because my thoughts are realistically who needs that many clothes in their wardrobe. Clothes that you are just going to through aside next month when its gone ‘out of fashion’? ( Does that sound familiar to anyone?) I know for a fact majority of the girls who are reading this at the moment will agree with me on this. For me having that many clothes is not ‘Real Fashion’ it’s a money making system that is unsustainable and harming our environment. That is why I have decided to change my blog and content to portray a more sustainable manner. Because I definitely think there is a lot of amazing fashion bloggers out there that are doing enough of the fashion system at the moment!
I am excited to embark on this journey in the New Year and hope you enjoy my posts along the way.
