Being a fourth year student our schedule is totally booked and set out for us from now until we finish our degree collection in May which is quite scary and exciting at the same time. Our Collection brief was given to us last week and we have just started researching around what we want it to be based on ( Artist, Photographer’s, Places..ect) I am still unsure exactly what I am using as my source of inspiration.
Whats Next?? If you are into buying fabrics you will know we don’t have the best selection of fabrics in Limerick or Dublin and they are quite costly. So every year we head to London normally once a year but this year we are heading over twice. Next week will be the first week in London where we research and source fabrics that we want for our collection getting swatches of each fabric (a small cut of the fabric). Which I am very excited about as fabrics shopping is always one of my favourite parts of designing! Also whenever I get a chance to go to London I jump at it, for me its like a mini New York! We are also heading to an event in Dublin next week called Make Shift I would definitely recomenned going to it if you are free its a one-day international conference that will explore the future of making and the nature of disruptive innovation in craft and design. Link Here Do Join!! 🙂
I will also keep you posted on all the best fabric spots to head in London and my collection process as it starts to mend.
Happy Bank Holiday Monday I hope your having a relaxing one!
